The night did salvage my day after all, albeit in an unsuspecting way. Let’s just say that I had a huge dosage of fun and excitement at the Mr. and Ms KDU event just now. Long story short, we rooted for our man, and he WON! Congratulations to Clarence, my homeboy, who picked up the top honors of the night. Instead of the usual sing and dance routine, Clarence did an interesting, self-choreographed glow stick maneuver which impressed the judges enough for him to bag the coveted trophy. And for his efforts, he brought home a Ginvera hamper, a bottle of Givenchy perfume and a new Samsung mobile phone courtesy of the various sponsors of the event.
Not only did he excel during his dance and catwalk, but he also received the highest score in the Q&A session (which is usually the killer in any pageant). There were some other notable contestants though especially Karen, the kitty from Kuching, who was my favourite female contestant of the night (she eventually took the runner-up spot for Ms KDU). Karen stepped up confidently on stage with the Marion Raven look and delivered her rendition of “Leaving On A Jet Plane” while strumming on her acoustic guitar.
All in all, it was a great event as we got to see contestants from 4 different countries namely China, South Korea, Taiwan and Malaysia, of course. We had lots of fun even after the show has ended as they invited DJ Nina to spin on the decks with her eclectic mix of Hip-hop, R&B and Funk. So the auditorium turned into a dancehall for a little while until our respective stomachs couldn’t take it any longer.
Mr. KDU himself decided to give us all a treat, and because he was longing for Italian food, we all went to Pizza Uno at Bandar Utama where I feasted on a mouth-watering plate of baked pasta. It had lots of chicken and mushroom in it that I felt like a “bapak ayam” (pimp), hahaha! Guess I have no reason whatsoever to complain about tonight except for the fact that it rained rather heavily after the event and I got myself wet ;p but it was worth every drop of rain..like they say, No rain, no gain! hahaha
